Regulating Children with Autism and,or Sensory Disorders by Teresa Garland
Duration:Full Day | Format:Audio and Video
Description:
Join Teresa Garland, MOT, OTR / L, author and expert on sensory and modulation modulation issues, and explore cutting-edge interventions to meet sensory cravings and sensitivity in children (2-16 years old) with autism and sensory modulation problems.
In the first part of this workshop, you will learn about an effective step-by-step protocol that significantly reduces autism symptoms through the use of 15 sensory enrichment interventions. You will come with exercises to help children monitor, register and tolerate temperature, touch, sound, vision and vestibular activity. The protocol can be done at home, at school, or during early intervention classes. Individual exercises can be used to solve specific problems.
The second part of this workshop focuses on immersion in sensation through four different types of intervention:
Desensitization of sound, texture and taste / odor
Activities using crafts and games that soothe the senses and satisfy cravings
Substantial intensive movement treatments for all ages that “significantly” help in classroom work
Cognitive activities to help children rethink their sensory experiences
Dozens of new activities to use with your clients and students will be featured with videos and live demos.
